on 2010/7/30 10:30:00 (24 reads)

(Reriani Communications) --- In the world of public relations, the only thing that is constant is change. During the 2010 Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF.org) regional conference, Evolution 2010, to be held September 26-28, attendees will learn about the latest trends, how to maximize their effectiveness in their job, reenergize their career, and network with fellow Gulf Coast practitioners. The event will be held at the historic and newly restored Hilton Capitol Center in downtown Baton Rouge.

Sunday evening’s welcome reception will feature Louisiana native, Kevin Sekhani and his band outside on the Hilton’s pool deck overlooking the Mississippi River. Monday night’s Wine Walk and stroll around downtown Baton Rouge at a variety of bars and restaurants will be a great opportunity for conference attendees to network. National speaker and author, Jean Gatz, addresses thousands each year on improving people performance. As one of Evolution 2010’s keynote speakers, she will present Business As Usual is Over, The Survivor’s Guide for Change. Additionally, Evolution 2010 will include an assorted array of breakout sessions that will enable attendees to choose topics most applicable to their job responsibilities or career aspirations. Philanthropy and Volunteer : Protocol Employees Build Hope Through Habitat for Humanity Outreach
on 2010/7/30 9:30:00 (31 reads)
Philanthropy and Volunteer

(Reriani Communications) --- Protocol Global Solutions today announced the outstanding results of its second quarter 2010 philanthropic initiative that placed over 350 of their employees in Habitat for Humanity projects throughout the country. "With over one third of our nation's population--over 95 million people--experiencing a housing problem, it just made sense for Protocol to partner with Habitat for Humanity," said Chris Haerich, Vice President of Compliance and head of Protocol's philanthropic efforts. "Everyone enjoyed being able to give back to their communities in such a tangible way. In fact, as a result of the familiarity that most of our employees felt with Habitat, the number of volunteers increased substantially over our Q1 project."

In Protocol's six North American locations, employee volunteers--including executive management--worked nearly 500 hours building homes, privacy fences, landscaping newly built homes, and working in Habitat for Humanity stores tracking inventory, cleaning and more. "Every Habitat we worked with was thankful for our help and dedication, and they all asked us to help again in the future," said Haerich.

Health, Fitness and Drugs : There's a Doctor in the House - One Doctor and His Patient Take Message about Prostate Cancer to the Faithful
on 2010/7/30 9:00:00 (41 reads)
Health, Fitness and Drugs

(Reriani Communications) --- Lloyd Martin is on a mission of salvation. When he stands before men and women gathered in churches and other locations throughout the Delaware Valley, he speaks with the passion of a preacher intent on saving his flock. In this case, though, Martin is on a mission to save not souls, but lives. Martin’s message is simple but powerful: men need to pay attention to prostate cancer. Especially African-American men. He speaks from the gut about his own experience with the disease. He doesn’t mince words or spare details. If he needs to scare people into going to a doctor and getting checked, so be it.

“I came face to face with my own mortality,” Martin says. “I thought about my wife and sons, and the hardship my death would bring them. I thought about how we are enmeshed in a culture that doesn’t talk about prostate cancer or go to doctors, and how stupid that is. I used to think if I got one man in an audience to get screened, I had done my job. Now I realize I need every man to get screened because I can’t stand the thought of losing one more husband, father or breadwinner.” Martin’s emotional testimony is balanced by equally passionate preaching from his doctor, urologist Jamison Jaffe, DO. The two have taken to the road to spread the word about why men need to discuss prostate cancer screening with their doctors.

Music : What is the Music Manager’s Role in Today’s “D.I.Y” era?
on 2010/7/30 8:00:00 (33 reads)
Music

(Reriani Communications) --- The Artist Management Conference 2010 (AMCON2010), taking place in New York October 14-15, 2010, brings together artist managers, self-managed artists and artists/bands seeking representation; and provides a forum for networking, learning, showcasing, and conducting business. Among the topics to be discussed is role of music managers in today’s D.I.Y (do-it-yourself) era.

“For many independent artists, the D.I.Y option is chosen either by design (because they are perfectly happy and capable of doing things without a manager or label) or by default (because they are unable to attract the attention of a manager or label)”, says Jeremy Rwakaara, conference producer at the Artist Management Resource and author of the Artist Management Manual. In this D.I.Y era, dozens of fan relationship management resources like Reverbnation and FanBridge, among others, are marketed to artists as tools that enable them to engage with fans in a more direct and meaningful way. Sites like GigMaven and Sonicbids, and resources like the Indie Venue Bible, enable artists to pitch directly to venues and book their own tours. Resources like Sellaband, Pledge Music, Kickstarter and others enable artists to raise money for recordings, videos, tours, and more. Music libraries and licensing agents (like those found at Music Library Report) offer assistance with music placements in Film & TV productions. Digital distributors like Orchard, CD Baby, Tunecore, IODA and others offer musicians a means to distribute their music directly to fans via iTunes, etc. Social media networks (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc) make it possible for artists to handle publicity duties themselves.

Legal : Lawsuit Alleging Census Bureau’s Race Question Fuels Racism Causes Spike in Seattle Group I Am Malan’s Membership
on 2010/7/29 10:30:00 (47 reads)
Legal

(Reriani Communications) --- Membership to I Am Malan, a Seattle-based group that says it works toward racial unity, improved race relations, and toward the end of discrimination and racism, has spiked since the group publicly announced its support of a recent lawsuit against the United States Census Bureau and the Office of Management and Budget. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (Case #: 10-CV-1142), alleges that, on both the 2000 and 2010 Census forms, the United States Census Bureau’s and the Office of Management and Budget’s "representation of race was false, misleading, deceptive, and, therefore, fraudulent," and that its "negligence contributes to a historical and sustained pattern of personally-mediated, institutional, and internalized racism in this country..."

Frida Potente, President of the I Am Malan Council has become a staunch supporter of the lawsuit and has made the filed complaint available on the I Am Malan website. As news of the suit spread, the group watched requests to join the Malan race spike. Although they have adopted the term "race," Malans say they are defined by ideology rather than by superficialities such as skin color. Malans aim to transcend racial stereotypes and the boundaries of archaic race categories.
