The new enhancement enables caregivers to submit former employers and other references, who then participate in voluntary recorded phone interviews. The interview addresses the experience and capabilities of the caregiver—allowing families seeking care to then listen to the recorded reference as part of the Care.com caregiver’s profile. Through streaming audio, parents now have the ability to review references of babysitters, nannies, and other caregivers directly through Care.com.
The new feature is a welcome addition for the thousands of families already using Care.com to find child care, tutoring, senior care, pet care and housekeeping. Reference checks are a critical step often overlooked by families when hiring a new caregiver. Reviewing babysitter references and caregiver references enables the person seeking care to properly evaluate how the caregiver thinks, acts, and performs on the job.
