"Four years ago, fate took our two-year-old boy from us. He was stricken by a very rare genetic illness. It was as a way of honouring his memory that my brother-in-law, Carlo Bizzotto, and I got the idea of organizing an event that would combine our two passions, cars and kids. Last year we donated over $315,000 to the Sainte-Justine Hospital and the Montreal Children's Hospital foundations as well as the FCCI. This year, we hope to surpass this figure, and help parents and kids in need of special treatment, for whom research is vital," said Michael Mazzaferro, co-chairman of the event.
"We're delighted that Sainte-Justine UHC patients will be lucky enough to benefit from this outstanding event," says Aniele Lecoq, president and CEO of the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation. "Initiatives like this one are what allow our foundation to assist the CHU Sainte-Justine to offer healthcare comparable to the best worldwide practices.
"We'd like to thank the organizers, whose contributions will help maintain the outstanding care provided by the Montreal Children's Hospital. Fundraising plays a key role in helping us to achieve this goal," said Louise Dery-Goldberg, President of the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation.
Drivers and navigators in their BMWs, Ferraris and Lamborghinis will have only a map and their wits to guide them, as they weave their way through the streets from the starting point at the Leonardo da Vinci Centre to a secret location somewhere on the Island of Montreal. Along the route, corporate branded checkpoints will guide the Cento Miglia teams to their final destination. At the finish, a sumptuous cocktail party and multi-course dinner, Italian style, will await team members, their friends and families. Awards will be presented, and silent and live auctions will cap off a wonderful day and evening full of excitement and hope.
