(Reriani Communications)---REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--Hassan Yussuff, Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Labour Congress, will be available to the media in Regina on Labour Day Monday to talk about how everyday working people can push their priorities to the top of the political agenda - and get results.
"There is a lot of talk about an impending federal election. If you are one of the countless Canadians who wants an answer to why working people don't get their priorities dealt with - why good jobs are not being protected, why there's still a shortage of affordable child care and why women still earn just 701/2 cents for every dollar men get when they work - think about who you need to elect to finally make your priorities the priorities of your government," says Yussuff.
In Regina, Yussuff will speak at the 9th Annual Labour Day Picnic, organized by the Regina and District Labour Council, organized from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Candy Cane Park (between 19th Avenue and Wascana Drive).
The theme of this year's Labour Day celebrations is "Equality! Once and For All!" as part of the year-long campaign launched by the Canadian Labour Congress to raise women's wages and close the growing income gap between women and men.
The Canadian Labour Congress, the national voice of the labour movement, represents 3.2 million Canadian workers. The CLC brings together Canada's national and international unions along with provincial and territorial federations of labour and 130 district labour councils. Web site: www.canadianlabour.ca.
