The ASU Art Museum will host a new exhibition by well-known artist and filmmaker Brent Green titled, âGravity Was Everywhere Back Then.â Brent Greenâs exhibition, September 4 through December 31, 2010, will feature his version of a house built room by room by Leonard Wood, a hardware store clerk in Louisville. When Leonardâs wife Mary was diagnosed with cancer, Leonard started building, tragically hoping that he could save his wifeâs life with his labor. Even after Maryâs death, Wood continued to build the house. Over the next 20 years, he worked on this physical symbol of his love for Mary.

First we saw the Kremlin Square and Saint Basil basilica shrouded in heavy smoke coming from the ground, and the distant burning forests. Then the fires moved South, towards Bielorussia and Ukraine, and brought up to the surface buried radioactive old residues from Chernobil. Thousands of square kilometers of burning forests constitute one of the most frightening sights of our time. The woods in Russia have always exuded an almost mystical emanation perceptible in their painting, music and literature.

(Reriani Communications) --- Paul M. Cote stumbled upon art in his search to find his spirit and self. For him, art comes from an emotional place within, an unleashing of previously hidden energies that finally found a home on canvas. Borne from this discovery are Coteâs signature topographic and planetary images that are at once real and surreal, brimming with color and energy. Elements and forms are imbued with meaning, a clashing of raw instinct and the cerebral that allows us to see the fire contained within.

Here the paint is not merely applied to the canvas. Rather, it is heavily layered, swirled around, rising and falling and creating elevation, texture, and an overall sculpted appearance. The resulting celestial visions are both primitive and elegant, eluding definition as images range from realistic renderings to abstractions. Colors span the spectrum and levels of intensity, from muted to vibrant, and forms are at times heavy but also delicate. Whatever the context, in the end Coteâs canvases hum with energy, infused with a passion that has come to life through the layers of paint.

Lost for Decades, Unique American Art Form is Revived by Pendleton Woolen Mills

(Reriani Communications) --- In a nod to the past and an eye on the future, Pendleton Woolen Mills has launched a new collection of art blankets which brings to life the best designs of a group of historic trade blanket manufacturers. Working with experts in the field, they chose the top designs to honor in a new collection called The Pendleton Tribute Series.

Pendleton was one of five major mills that produced these dazzling, geometric patterned blankets during the âgolden ageâ of the trade blanket in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The blankets were originally made for sale and trade to Native Americans. Inspired by authentic Indian designs, they quickly became objects of prestige for tribal members and later popular among Americans throughout the country. As a longstanding contemporary of these mills, Pendleton is pleased to present this historical collection.

Fresno Artists Unveil Newest Works at Art Show and Demonstration

(Reriani Communications) --- Fresno artists Augustine and Rita Vargas are holding an art show and demonstration at Allardâs Art and Frame Supplies on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 11AM to 2PM. They are abstract impressionist artists and work with oils on canvas.

The pair married in 1980. Augustine Vargas has been painting for 30 years, developing a stream-of-consciousness style of painting characterized by blended colors and textures that are reminiscent of mist, light, energy, and familiar shapes such as windows, doorways, caverns, figures, planets and more.

Interactive Artwork Revitalizes Manhattan's Long Dormant Donnell Library Building

(Reriani Communications) --- The artwork, entitled "prettyugly", consists of three 6' x 4' proximity-sensitive LED video panels mounted in the windows; the panels portray close-up video of children making faces, conveying certain random moods or expressions. Layers of this video are combined on the panels via rectangular "holes" that allow faces from one layer to merge with another, creating a "hybrid portrait" of a hybrid person with a hybrid expression. Touching the windows causes the image to change and recombine.

"The work is essentially about how we as individuals are woven into the rich and diverse tapestry of people we live with and among in New York City," added Mr. Stratton, "The interactive and collaborative nature of the work is an extension of this: the composition on the display at any given moment is the cumulative state of the piece after purposeful or exploratory interaction from random people passing by. The resulting juxtapositions of faces and their expressions - whether the effect is startling, comical, bizarre, endearing, incongruous, or harmonious - are the sum consequences of this interaction." The Donnell Library Center, which has stood empty in its vantage point across the street from MoMA for nearly two years, is being transformed into a temporary art exhibition by the nonprofit arts group Chashama. The group has been converting vacant properties across the city into exhibition spaces for the past 15 years, and said its plans for the former public library include placing easels inside the window spaces and inviting artists to illuminate them with lights and color.

Career Changer Attempts Transitions to the Arts in Sour Economy

(Reriani Communications) --- A career change for U.S. workers in a strong economy can be daunting. Making a second career change during a double-dip recession is downright frightening. John Grant, a College Station, Texas artist has done both. First he bailed out of teaching in East Los Angeles County to pursue a childhood dream of being an architect. He enrolled in Texas A&Mâs Master of Architecture Program in 2003. Though he graduated with honors, once Grant entered the architecture field, he felt like a fish out of water. Wired more like a Picasso than a Frank Lloyd Wright, Grant discovered that creativity was the sole domain of upper-level architectural principals. In the workaday architectural world, he learned that plans needed to be drawn with precision, not with flair and originality.

The second time around, Grant determined to make a career change out of architecture into the creative arts. So he began his new company called Grant Artistry. Drawing pencil portraits for clients across the country, Grant now receives more orders than he can complete. Commissions pour in from old friends on his website and complete strangers on Facebook. Budgeting his time to quickly complete commissions is an ongoing struggle for Grant. He currently devotes at least sixty hours to each portrait.

Award-Winning Artist, Linda Gross Brown, Crowned "Master Pastelist" in Art World

Linda has earned this honor because she continues to create consistently impressive and masterful paintings that have been exhibited and even featured on the catalog cover in IAPS exhibitions. She can now proudly follow her name with the letters "IAPS MC" as she joins an exclusive group of artists who have proven themselves masters in this pastel medium. The treasured IAPS golden medallion signifying her membership in the Master Circle will be awarded to her in a very special banquet in the spring of 2011. Sixth Annual Ava Gardner Festival is Announced; Scheduled for October 8-9, 2010

(Reriani Communications) --- The 2010 Ava Gardner Festival marks the 10th anniversary of the Ava Gardner Museum in Smithfield and this year's festival kicks off with the Gala on Friday evening, October 8th. Festivities continue on Saturday, October 9th, with heritage tours, screenings of classic Ava Gardner films, and special exhibits. "Skeptics of the new museum felt that "Ava fans" would soon forget the Hollywood legend of the 1940s and 50s and there would be no need for the museum," stated Jessica Hammett, Museum Director, "but today the museum continues to welcome visitors from around the world ages 7 to 77 to learn more about Ava's incredible story."

In August of 1999, the Museumâs board made an investment in downtown Smithfield by purchasing and renovating a 6,400 square foot building that became the permanent home for the Museumâs vast collection. In October 2000, the new Ava Gardner Museum opened its doors and has continued to draw national and even worldwide attention with approximately 15,000 visitors each year. The Sixth Annual Ava Gardner Festival will celebrate the many years of hard work to bring the Ava Gardner Collection to a permanent location.
