TCEP will integrate for the first time proven gasification and carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) technologies to achieve a capture rate of 90 percent – among the highest proposed anywhere in the world. Participants in the Texas Clean Energy Project FEED study include Siemens Energy Inc., Fluor Corporation, and Selas Fluid Processing Corporation, a Linde Group subsidiary. Siemens is the primary equipment provider for Texas Clean Energy Project’s gasifiers, power island and controls, including a “twin pack” of SFG-500 gasifiers, a state-of-the-art SGT6-5000F combustion turbine, and an advanced SPPA-T3000 control system. Siemens will also supply O&M services for the facility.

Fluor Corporation, based in Irving, Texas, is the project’s design engineer and one of the world’s largest publicly owned engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance (EPCM), and project management companies. The Linde Group is a world leading gases and engineering company with almost 48,000 employees working in more than 100 countries worldwide. Linde will be designing and costing the handling of the synthesis gas, produced by the Siemens gasifiers, including Shift and Gas Cooling, Rectisol® Wash Unit, Cryogenic Nitrogen Wash Unit, CO2 compression, mercury removal, sulfuric acid production, and ammonia production. Linde will also design an Air Separation Unit for the delivery of Nitrogen and Oxygen to the gasifiers and combustion turbine. The Texas Clean Energy Project’s FEED team formally launched the study on June 30, 2010 and construction is currently scheduled to begin on the project in the second half of 2011 upon completion of the FEED study and financial close.

The FC300 OFDM IP CORE Helps OEM Customers Reduce Development Time

(Reriani Communications) --- Sundance Digital Signal Processing Inc., a leading provider of high performance signal processing and reconfigurable multiprocessor systems today introduced its latest FPGA IP core, code named FC300, which is a complete implementation of an OFDM physical layer, based on 802.11a/g/n. The first release of this COTS product targets the SMT351T FPGA module with an XC5VSX95T Virtex-5 FPGA from Xilinx, but because the design does not require any resources other than those commonly found in FPGAs it can easily be retargeted to any device family, from Spartan to Virtex-7 to Altera Cyclone or Stratix. Retargeting to different RF hardware is also possible as the VHDL of FC300 assumes only an I/Q baseband DAC/ADC interface. FC300 may be used as a reference design to jump start the development of any custom RF application based on 802.11 or other proprietary OFDM data-transmission standard.

When used with the SMT911 RF module data may be transmitted at up to 54Mb/s on any standard 20MHz-wide channel in the 2.4GHz ISM or 5GHz U-NII bands. The core contains both transmit and receive chains and interfaces directly to other DSP or FPGA modules provided by the hardware platform. All 802.11a/g features are supported including data scrambling, forward error-correction via convolutional encoding at rates from ½ to ¾, sub-channel coding of BPSK, QPSK, 16QAM or 64QAM, both short- and long-training sequences, pilot insertion, and the IFFT/FFT required to convert to/from time-domain RF I/Q signals. The receiver logic includes estimators for center-frequency offset and fractional-sample symbol timing as well as independent per-sub-channel gain & phase compensation. The SMT911 supports 1x1 SISO and 2x2 MIMO on a single module.

Upsite is the first data center sealing company to receive this designation, bringing recognition to it’s suite of Lok sealing products and services for their significant impact on the energy efficiency of data centers worldwide.

The European Code of Conduct was created in response to increasing energy consumption in data centers and the need to reduce the related environmental, economic and energy supply security impacts. The aim is to inform and stimulate data center operators and owners to reduce energy consumption in a cost-effective manner without hampering the mission critical function of data centers. The Code of Conduct aims to achieve this by improving understanding of energy demand within the data center, raising awareness, and recommending energy efficient best practice and targets. Endorser status is awarded to companies who have demonstrated a commitment to uphold the general principles and best practices set forth by the Code of Conduct as well as develop products, solutions and programs that significantly contribute to improving energy efficiency in data centers.

Genesis Reef Systems, LLC, located in southwest Ohio – hundreds of miles from the nearest reef, recently introduced its line of automatic water change systems for aquariums. While the systems can be used on any aquarium, the RENEW™ line of automatic water change systems is geared toward reef aquarium setups.

The aquarium enthusiasts at Genesis Reef Systems recognized that one of the most basic yet essential tasks of good aquarium husbandry – frequent water changes – was being ignored by many aquarists simply because of the task’s tedious, messy nature. They also recognized that many of the unfortunate and heartbreaking aquarium “crashes,” or failures which result in the deaths of nearly all of the beautiful, rare, and prized coral and fish specimens in the aquarium, could be avoided simply by adhering to a maintenance schedule that includes frequent water changes. They decided to do something about it.
