(Reriani Communications)--- NASA recently unveiled never-before-seen video and images from its Solar Dynamics Observatory, a technology system designed to study the sun. The images boast a clarity 10 times better than high-definition television, NASA claims.

Fiery halos of ionised gas burst from the sun in the first video taken by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). This video, featured above, is an unprecedented view of the sun and its activity. The observatory, launched on Feb. 11, takes ultra-sharp images of the entire disc of the sun – previous high-resolution satellites could see only small portions of its surface at a time.

NASA says SDO's purpose during its five-year mission is to "examine the sun's magnetic field and also provide a better understanding of the role the sun plays in Earth's atmospheric chemistry and climate."

(Reriani Communications)--- People of Iowa and neighboring cities were surprised by a meteor shower on Wednesday night. The fireball resembling meteor is captured in a picture by an Iowa resident – that is believed to be a part of the meteor shower. This meteor wasn’t like a flash – it appeared at 10 p.m. and stayed there for good 15 minutes!

According to the National Weather Service, the meteor was moving from west to east and before it reached the horizon, it broke up into smaller pieces and was lost from sight. Iowa was not the only place where this meteor was seen, but Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri and Indiana also witnessed the fireball.

(Reriani Communications)--- A very unusual and daring thing happened on Friday as two astronauts from the shuttle Discovery walked for six and a half hour helping to move an ammonia tank on the outside of the International Space Station.

Mission astronauts Clayton Anderson and Rick Mastracchio left the shuttle's airlock at 0531 GMT first spacewalk of the current mission (13 days) at the International Space Station.

The planned 13-day mission is to be followed by only three more shuttle missions before the ageing fleet of spacecraft is retired for good by year's end or early next year. That will leave only the Russian Soyuz craft for human transport into space. Both the astronauts after their six hour long walk returned to the shuttle. The astronauts will be replacing the exhausted ammonia tank. Ammonia is used for cooling the orbiting space station which helps in cooling the engine. The mission will be having some more walks that are scheduled on Sunday and Tuesday for second and third spacewalks respectively.

With the severe magnitude of the 7.2 temblor, many are left wondering why there isn’t more damage in San Diego. Experts say it’s because the city was well-prepared.

“There are three components that have created a resilient community,” said Ron Lane, San Diego County’s director of emergency services. “A well-trained first responders system, a prepared citizenry and building codes that are made with earthquakes in mind. This was a good wake-up call for San Diego and I encourage San Diegans to think about what happened yesterday.”

San Diego State University geology professor and seismologist Kim Bak Olsen noted that geography played a major role in the relatively minor damage done in San Diego.
