Architecture, Building and Construction : RoofOptions Introduces a National Co-op Effort Saving Companies Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars
|
| on 2010/8/19 23:00:00 (83 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- RoofOptions has been the primary procurement agent for a nationwide class action lawsuit involving thousands of building owners. These owners have been forced to replace roofs due to a faulty insulation product known as PFRI (Phenolic Foam Roof Insulation). With the final deadline approaching for these companies to receive settlement funds, RoofOptions has created a unique co-op program enabling building owners to combine their projects with other projects in the same region. This allows them to leverage the benefits and savings of volume purchasing power.
Beginning 8-15-2010, RoofOptions officially opened this opportunity to the public, and is now extending this same co-op opportunity to any company in the country needing to replace a roof. With an average of 15%-25% savings through this program, companies are saving tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars on their roofing projects.

Architecture, Building and Construction : Avoiding the Con in Construction-Renovations and Repairs Done Right
|
| on 2010/8/19 21:30:00 (84 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- Renovating a home is an expensive undertaking even when things go right. When things go wrong, unexpected costs and delays can be financially devastating. “We’ve all heard the horror stories,” says Kia Ricchi, a Florida-based contractor and author of the new book, Avoiding the Con in Construction. “But there are steps homeowners can take to ensure that a construction project goes smoothly.”
In her book, Ricchi teaches homeowners how to use state websites to ensure that a contractor is properly licensed, insured and of sound character. Ricchi also explains the permitting and inspection process, and how it protects the homeowner. Pitfalls such as liens, jobsite injuries, and cost overruns are explained as well as the methods to avoid them. The Library Journal wrote on June 1, 2010-"In this extremely useful book, Ricchi, a Florida building contractor, introduces homeowners to construction contracting in understandable language. She discusses how to avoid common pitfalls and survive the entire process. The purpose here is not to defame contractors but to make readers knowledgeable customers. Planning, pricing, and many other important factors are neatly explained. This specialized book is highly recommended."

Architecture, Building and Construction : Construction Sites Can Be Unsafe at Any Size
|
| on 2010/7/16 8:00:00 (97 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- Over the past several years, New York City has received widespread publicity over several crane accidents at large construction sites that caused numerous fatalities and left many others with debilitating injuries. While the attention those tragedies received was deserved, the dangers on small construction sites - which can be just as deadly - often go unnoticed.
Spotlight on Safety
Large construction sites are understandably the objects of more attention from city building construction inspectors, politicians, media, neighborhood organizations and people who live and work nearby. The big sites often have heavy equipment such as cranes, bulldozers and excavators, cement mixers and trenchers, as well as extensive scaffolding, large electrical generators and piles of materials. Perhaps most important, these sites also typically have fencing and security personnel to keep the public away from the site's dangers. When a five-story apartment building is going up or a business is renovating its three-story headquarters, the potential dangers and risks are equal to those on large projects. However because of the lesser scale of these types of projects the developers and construction management companies are often under less scrutiny. Construction firm owners and crew chiefs can be tempted to cut costs by eliminating required, standard safety measures to the detriment of the workers. Safety equipment such as harnesses might be scarce or not even available on site, while equipment operators are pushed to work quickly without taking normal precautions.

Architecture, Building and Construction : What Was It Before Electric Garage Doors?
|
| on 2010/6/28 13:00:00 (93 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- Did you know that the garage for vehicles is shared with horses and domestic animals? This stinky truth paved way for the need to build a separate vehicle storage room. And so, separate buildings were constructed to house vehicles such as cars and trucks. The building was known as carriage house. Since the garage is home to vehicles, the word was derived from the French word "garer" which means shelter. There was not even a trace of electric doors, and so as electric garage doors.
Time has whispered the need for carriage houses to be accessible. And so, garage was built in close proximity to the house. Since then, the garage has been an extension of the family home. This made it even accessible to use the car without literally leaving the household premises. Hence, the structural design of the garage goes with that of the house. Garage doors then were made of wood since the material is very much available. It is also cheap compared to some other processed materials. Wood is also a good insulator. The unfavorable attributes of wood; however, is that it is of high-maintenance cost and prone to destruction. Wood is weakened by external hazards such as weather and termites. This made it not advisable for use.

In addition to the three bathrooms, JDR also remodeled three bedrooms, a laundry room and created a custom wine cellar for the home.

Architecture, Building and Construction : Searching For Precision Machining Companies
|
| on 2010/6/19 7:00:00 (135 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- In this day and age there are many different ways of searching for precision machining companies. Here is a look at some of those different methods and the advantages and disadvantages attached to each. Precision Machining Companies Online Probably one of the most popular ways of searching for a company today is to use the Internet. You can simply go to Google or Yahoo, or any search engine, and type in the search term 'precision machining' and a huge list of resulting websites will appear on screen. You can then visit each site in turn and read more about the company and contact them directly. The great aspect about this way of searching is that it can be done from the comfort of your own home or office and at any time you wish, the Internet never closes. A downside to this method is that it can be very time consuming visiting each site and it is hit and miss as to whether the company is of good quality.
Referrals A great way of knowing you will receive good service from your machining company is to go through a referral. Ask around work colleagues and acquaintances in your field if they can recommend a precision machining company to you. Using a referral gives you a head start as the company has already been tried and tested, and it saves time ploughing through the many precision companies available.

Architecture, Building and Construction : Wood Flooring Installation - Choose the Best Company
|
| on 2010/6/17 14:20:00 (90 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- Wood flooring installation is one of the most challenging home improvement projects, and one most homeowners opt to hire someone to do. If you are in the market to have hardwood installed in your home, these tips will help you choose the right company to handle the job. First, consider working with a company that specializes in hardwood floors, rather than just all types of floor coverings. While a carpet installer can do a good job on hardwood as well, working with someone or a company that knows the ins and outs of this floor covering option is ideal.
If you know someone who has had hardwood installed recently, ask if you can see his or her floors. If you like the way the job was done, get a reference. Seeing the work in person is the best way to judge the quality of the service a particular company offers. Ask to see pictures of wood flooring installation projects the individual or company has done. Look carefully at these pictures, inspecting the details like the edging and finishing on the room. In some instances you will not be able to tell much about the job based on pictures alone, but a company that is proud of its work will have pictures.
