Immigration : The States' Battle to Take Back Immigration Reform From Uncle Sam
|
| on 2010/8/28 10:00:00 (61 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- The federal government has always maintained jurisdiction over the laws surrounding immigration. However, states around the country feel that the Obama Administration is not combating the problems associated with immigration and thus forcing them to pass their own laws. Numerous states have introduced bills, but Arizona is the first to take the lead at passing a real state-level immigration law. However, Arizona's attempts at passing their own law have hit a roadblock after a federal district court judge issued an injunction against the state's measures.
Arizona's Immigration Law Arizona is the most recent state to take immigration action into their own hands by passing a state-level law to tackle the influx of illegal aliens entering the state. On July 28, 2010, U.S. District Court Judge Susan R. Bolton issued an injunction to block enforcement of certain provisions of Arizona's new immigration law. One day before originally expected to take effect, Judge Bolton declared sections of the law invalid.

Immigration : Obtaining an EB-5 Visa by Investing in a Regional Center
|
| on 2010/8/21 13:00:00 (56 reads) |
(Reriani Communications) --- For those seeking permanent resident status in the United States, the often underutilized EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program may be a productive avenue. The "Immigrant Investor Visa", or EB-5 visa, is an investment-based opportunity that lets foreign nationals obtain a green card. By investing in a commercial enterprise in the United States and creating jobs for U.S. workers, foreign citizens may be able to become permanent U.S. residents. However, the EB-5 program is not as simple as it may appear, and there are several potential pitfalls to keep in mind.
How the Immigrant Investor Program Works, and Some Things to Consider The EB-5 visa is commonly called the "million dollar" visa, although it does not always require a million dollar investment. In general, an immigrant investor can obtain permanent resident status through the EB-5 program by investing at least $1 million dollars in a commercial enterprise in the United States and creating at least ten jobs for U.S. workers (not including the investor, his or her spouse, or their children). The money invested must be legally obtained capital: it must come from legitimate sources and cannot originate from drugs, corruption, etc.

Immigration : SBS Migration IT Pro Conference New Orleans, May 28: Linus Chang Addresses Optimization & Using Products like BackupAssistTM to Increase Profits
|
| on 2010/5/15 23:40:00 (85 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)--- The SBS Migration IT Pro Conference in New Orleans, USA starting on May 28 focuses on Optimization: Get a Better Reality. It is a prime example of the industry rising up to support its members with effective solutions at a time when the entire industry is facing a particularly difficult challenge.
Times are tough for all businesses in today’s economic climate – but particularly for I.T. Professionals relying on companies with frozen budgets to create their bottom line. Their role has suddenly changed from sourcing new technology and designing systems to support a company’s information growth, to one where maximizing existing assets and finding new economies is of paramount importance.
“Optimization has never been quite this necessary in the past” says Linus Chang, CEO of Cortex I.T. and lead developer of its flagship product BackupAssist. “The new technology itself provided efficiencies, so the expenditure of purchasing it was justified. But now, companies all around the world have experienced massive budget cuts - they now have to meet the growing I.T. needs of their businesses with a lot less funds. That means I.T. Professionals have to change their way of thinking.” “BackupAssist is a fantastic product for any business looking for ways to maximize existing investments in Windows products. It is very cost-effective because it utilizes the technology they’ve already paid for in Windows. It also has built-in features that help I.T. Consultants service more clients, more professionally with greater profitability. It is a great fit with the optimization theme of this conference” Linus adds.

Immigration : License now must for all NZ agents
|
| on 2010/5/6 10:40:00 (70 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)--- IN AN obvious bid to streamline its immigration procedures and protect the interests of students and skilled workers, the New Zealand government has made it mandatory for agents to get them registered and obtain a license to conduct their businesses. From now on, only licensed agents can represent their clients in India and New Zealand.
With effect from yesterday, all advisers providing advice about New Zealand immigration matters must be licensed unless they are exempt, no matter where in the world they provide that advice, according to a Press release issued by the Immigration Advisors Authority of New Zealand through its High Commission in New Delhi.
This latest move is expected to have a far-reaching effect in India where a majority of education consultants do not possess such license to operate. No wonder, they are charging hefty fees for their services. Of late, following stricter visa rules for Australia and the UK, Indian students had shifted their focus to New Zealand which promises a permanent settlement in that country after one year. Also, following protests from the ‘sons of soil’ in Kiwi land, it had become hard to get a work permit for New Zealand.

Immigration : Highly Skilled Migrant Programme: Tightening the Noose Around Immigrants
|
| on 2010/4/29 15:00:00 (104 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)--- The article is about the views by different people who oppose as well as accept the change in Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. The change will affect immigrants who came to UK from the countries except Europe. This articles gives a brief view what political game is going around the whole procedure.
The conservative party was warned by the other leaders for their plans to impose an annual cap on the number of immigrants coming to Britain would upset the Indians and Chinese. The Conservative party's election manifesto released yesterday contained a pledge to issue an annual cap on migrants, besides a promise to impose bonds for students from India and other non-European Union countries, and other measures to control immigration.
London First, an influential business membership organization whose mission is to make London the best city in the world in which to do business, warned that the Conservative plans threatened Britain's position as a global commercial hub where several Indian companies have set up offices. London First's chief executive, cross bench peer Baroness Jo Valentine, accused the party of making the proposals to "appease the populist voice and warned that it would put off Britain's trading allies abroad".

Immigration : Why do Refugees Flee to the USA and UK?
|
| on 2009/9/22 15:10:00 (336 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)---The asylum process differs from country to country and as does the length of time to make a decision, be that positive or negative.
According to the 2005 UN statistics, the USA admitted the highest number of asylum seekers in the developed world in the past five years with the UK not far behind. I have been to New York and established Polish and Irish communities already exist from previous mass movement of refugees after the potato famine in Ireland and World War II which led to millions of Poles relocating around the war after Stalin had stated that any Poles that fought for the allies would face persecution under the Russian controlled communist government of Poland at that time.
May people see the USA and UK via cable TV and think that the streets are paved with gold. It's only when they arrive in these countries that they realise that life is not easy and that poverty and homelessness still exists in two of the richest countries of the world. The UK has strong colonial links from the days of the British Empire with a third of the world once coming under its protectorate. These strong links, its multi-cultural society and the English language mean the UK is often favoured as a destination for claiming asylum.

Immigration : Partnership Offers Temporary Australian Workers a Permanent Solution
|
| on 2009/9/1 8:50:00 (291 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)---Acacia Immigration Australia and Geoffrey Nathan Consulting announced today that they will work together in obtaining Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visas for skilled people with job offers in Australia. This has the potential to allow thousands of skilled workers to transfer from temporary to permanent visas in a matter of months, while the current processing times for other visa options can take years.
The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) can be thought of as a permanent version of the 457 visa. However, many employers are either unwilling or unable to use the Employer Nomination Scheme. Examples include:
Where the employer has a policy not to use ENS unless the employee has been with the employer for a certain number of years or is at a certain level in the organization; or The employer is unable to use ENS because they are too small or unable to meet the training requirements; or The employer has issues obtaining a labour agreement with the Department of Immigration

Immigration : Discover How Easy It Is To Become A US Citizen
|
| on 2009/5/4 8:40:00 (292 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)--- Isnt it amazing how life is full of things that make you want to laugh out loud? US citizenship is one of them. There are some people who were born in the US that deserve to be citizens about as much as a monkey deserves to be made the head of General Motors. And then there are those, fine upstanding people with good heads on their shoulders, who are prevented from becoming citizens because of one thing or another. So, you might ask, how difficult is it to become a US citizen? Well, read on because Im going to cover what I feel are the main obstacles to becoming a citizen.
The first and biggest hurdle is the background check. Due to all the major problems the United States has had with terrorism, they are very thorough when it comes to checking out you, your family and everybody you know. If there is even a hint that you have ties to people disloyal to the United States, theyll decline your citizenship in a heartbeat. This is one of the parts of the process that no amount of knowledge can get around because it is subjective and there are no black and white rules to follow.
The next stumbling block is the knowledge part. You must have knowledge of our laws and constitution in order to become a US citizen. Sadly, there are kids in our school system graduating today who cant tell you what the 50 states are, let alone point them out on a map. But for you, this is a basic requirement for becoming a citizen and only scratches the surface of the test. You also need to know US history in some detailagain, another area where many citizens are lacking.

Immigration : Immigration to the United Kingdom
|
| on 2009/5/3 10:20:00 (461 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)--- Immigration to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland since 1922 has been substantial, in particular from Ireland and the former colonies of the British Empire - such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Caribbean, South Africa, Kenya and Hong Kong - under British nationality law. Others have come as asylum seekers, seeking protection as refugees under the United Nations 1951 Refugee Convention, or from European Union (EU) member states, exercising one of the EU's Four Freedoms.
About half the population increase between the 1991 and 2001 censuses was due to foreign-born immigration. 4.9 million People (8.3 percent of the population at the time) were born abroad, although the census gives no indication of their immigration status or intended length of stay.
In 2006, there were 149,035 applications for British citizenship, 32 percent fewer than in 2005. The number of people granted citizenship during 2006 was 154,095, 5 per cent fewer than in 2005. The largest groups of people granted British citizenship were from India, Pakistan, Somalia and the Philippines. In 2006, 134,430 people were granted settlement in the UK, a drop of 25 per cent on 2005.Meanwhile, migration from Central and Eastern Europe has increased since 2004 with the accession to the European Union of eight Central and Eastern European states, since there is free movement of labour within the EU. The UK government is currently phasing in a new points-based immigration system for people from outside of the European Economic Area.

(Reriani Communications)---As of September 17, 2008, Citizenship and Immigration Canada is accepting applications for the newest category of Canadian immigration, the Canadian Experience Class. This fast-track option for temporary foreign workers and international graduates is a good news story in the Canadian immigration arena, says Canadian immigration lawyer David Cohen. These temporary residents can now more easily transition to Permanent Residents and, eventually Canadian citizens.
"Thanks to the new Canadian Experience Class of immigration, if you come to Canada as a temporary foreign worker or an international student, you can stay here for good -- without interruption," says Canadian immigration Attorney David Cohen.

Immigration : Canada's Government Continues Consultations on Immigration Priorities With National Stakeholders
|
| on 2008/8/16 0:50:00 (226 reads) |
(Reriani Communications)---OTTAWA, ONTARIO-- The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, met today with national stakeholders from business, industry, labour and non-governmental organizations to discuss occupational priorities for immigration purposes.
This national round table was an opportunity to hear from key experts from a national perspective. It was an important element of cross-Canada consultation sessions with provinces, territories and stakeholders, including ethnic and immigrant-serving organizations, over the past month.
Today's consultations focused on identifying critical occupational shortages in trades and professions across Canada, the role of immigration in responding to them, and any barriers to foreign credential accreditation. This information will help develop instructions for immigration officers on occupations that are identified for priority processing. The ministerial instructions, to be issued this fall, will focus on applications in the federal skilled worker category.
